We are announcing some changes in the IPBurger Infrastrucure, that will affect some VPN customers.

We have personally emailed each customer who will be affected, but it is possible that we may have missed some. If your VPN is not connecting anymore, please read further on how to upgrade.

If you did not receive such an email, and your VPN connections are not affected, or if you are using only Proxies, then you can skip reading this article.

What is exactly happening?

We have been busy building a rock solid infrastructure with more secure and reliable VPN + Proxy protocols. These new backends offer significantly more stable connections compared to the Legacy OpenVPN Backend.

Moving on, we are deprecating the older OpenVPN Backend, and asking our customers to upgrade their OpenVPN Profiles.

The deprecation will happen on 20th of May, Wednesday, at Midnight CST.

Will it affect you?

If you use one of these softwares: Pritunl, IPBurgerVPN (or Viscosity), OpenVPN on Android or iOS, or any other OpenVPN Software, and your VPN Connections are no longer working, then you are likely affected by the deprecation.

If you are not using these mentioned softwares, and use alternative connection methods such as SoftEther, L2TP or Browser Extension, then this deprecation will not affect you and you can skip reading this article.

Unless you upgrade as mentioned below, your OpenVPN connections will not connect on/after 20th of May, as we deprecate the legacy OpenVPN Backend.

What do you need to do?

You need to freshly download OpenVPN Profiles from our website, import them into your VPN Software and remove the previous OpenVPN profiles.

Please use following links on how to do that for your Software and Operating System.

Windows 7, 8, 10

IPBurgerVPN or Viscosity

Pritunl

macOS

Linux

Android

iOS

You will need to perform these steps for all your IP Addresses one by one.

As you do that, you will start using the newer OpenVPN backend and you will not be affected by the deprecation.

Alternatively, check out our Browser Extensions

If you use our Browser Extensions, then you don't need to use any VPN. They offer IP & DNS Protection, built-in Kill Switch, WebRTC protection and an additional ease of usage.

Browser Extension for Chrome

Browser Extension for Firefox

Does it affect your VPN IP Address, or your Business Accounts in any way?

No, it does not change anything regarding the IP address or the Accounts you manage.

Any questions?

Feel free to reach out to us.

Thank you for working with us!
